National Tourism Agency in cooperation with Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), which for 20 years helping and assisting the Albanian administration, organized the 2nd September 2010, a seminar in the premises of the Ministry of Tourism, Culture, Youth and Sports.
This seminar is one of the activities in the context of a wider project initiated by NTA in cooperation with JICA to promote tourism in a new Japanese market.
Within this assistance at the administration of NTA and Ms. Akiyama Aya, Tourism Expert at Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

The purpose of this workshop was the description of the characteristics of Japanese tourists, image of Balkan in Japan, Japanese Travel Industry, all these results of research paper developed by the JICA expert in close cooperation with specialists of the NTA.
The seminar gave information about the total number of Japanese tourists traveling abroad, and the main characteristics and requirements of these tourists. A special characteristic of Japanese tourists is their desire for an active tourism and their sensitivity to environmental preservation and maintenance. During the tour of the planned eventual destination country, they predict that within 3-4 days of their stay to visit 3-4 different places. Some of the shortcomings in promoting the brand Albania, in view of the potential flux, and that was observed within the study were:
- Lack of promotion through brochures and web-site in Japanese tourism.
- Lack of promotion-oriented and specific to Albania in the Japanese market.
