On 21 May 2010, in "Mother Theresa"'s square was organized the opening ceremony of "Adriatic & Ionian Classic Rally", which coincided with the opening of the Summer Tourist Season 2010. At 17:00 hrs, some 45 old automobiles from the years '30 with foreign drivers (mainly from Greece) but also locals and from Kosova were parked at the square. The tour of these automobiles will continue until 24 May 2010 by passing through tourist locations and objects of Albania, such as Durres, Vlora, Himara and Saranda. The Deputy Minister of Tourism, Culture, Youth and Sports Mr. Nikolle Lesi speaking at the opening of the activity declared officially the opening of the summer tourist season. Other speakers at the Opening were the President of the Automobiles Association in Albania Mr. Kapedani and the President of the Automobiles Association in Greece.
At 18:00 hrs the automobiles lined up started their journey toward the city of Durres, where a festive concert was organized in the city's amphitheatre under the special patronage of the Prime Minister of Albania.
