A huge number of fortresses(castels) dating back from antiquity to the medievalism located in the Albania territory. Some of them, continue to be inhabited even in our days (Berat). Among the most important are: Rozafa, Lezha, Gjirokastra, Butrinti, Porto - Palermo, Kruja, Petrela, Kanina.
